The Fatted Calf Internship Program… 

Our goal is to attract motivated young people with servant hearts to further the mission of The Fatted Calf as well as to develop character and professionalism in the interns to take back home and incorporate into their communities.

HOW TO APPLY

Our summer interns  typically spend most of their time helping the children with their animals to prepare them for EXPO Esperanza.  In addition to helping with their livestock projects, the interns also teach classes on various static and stage projects.  Some interns are assigned specific projects outside of EXPO serving the mission of The Fatted Calf, depending on the skills and interest of the intern. 

  • Program Description

    Use your agricultural knowledge to conduct animal practices and teach project classes according to your strengths to youth ages 6 - 18. Grow your skills in leadership and service as you prepare the participants for an exciting week of exhibiting their projects and showcasing their skills learned at the end of the summer.

  • Program Highlights

    • Paid 11 Week Internship in Mexico

    • Experience Expo Esperanza (our “4-H” fair)

    • Gain valuable teaching experience

    • Connect with kids ages 6-18

    • Improve your Spanish Language skills

     

    Expectations and Qualifications

    • Attend trainings to learn how to work with kids from hard places

    • Plan and teach a variety of classes based on your experience

    • Coach youth in livestock showmanship and knowledge (Cattle, Horses, Sheep)

    • Be flexible, a team-player, and willing to help out wherever needed

    • College sophomore or older
