RAV Year End 2017

December at RAV was exciting as always. Twenty-seven of the calves born earlier this year at the ranch headquarters (and later transported up to Rancho Ojo de Agua with their mothers) were weaned and brought back to the irrigated pastureland. Witnessing the liveliness of the calves is a true delight!

We were blessed with a day full of rain towards the middle of the month, so the pastures continue to grow. And the cattle, therefore, continue to be well fed. We look forward to all the new year will bring!

RAV Update November 2017

In November, the last heifer from the group of registered Limosin stock delivered a healthy bull calf. He was quite large and therefore his mother required assistance in his delivery. We are happy to report mom and baby are doing well!

Another thing ranch hands have been working on the past couple months is seeding the irrigated pasture ground for winter. Crimson clover, daikon radish, and rye grass can be seen sprouting up all over ranch headquarters. We praise God for sufficient water and abundant sunlight to grow the grass needed to feed our growing herd.

We were also blessed to give several tours this past month as the PCLM board members were in town for a board meeting and CVE hosted a work team in which several members showed interest in the ranch project.
